Please Write to FERC and to Your Representatives

writing_a_letterIf you haven’t yet written to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) to ask them to (1) extend the scoping comment period for the Mountain Valley Pipeline by 90 days (from June 16, 2015 to September 16, 2015) and (2) add additional scoping meetings, then please take the time to do so this week.  Remember, the scoping meetings for the MVP begin next week so it is critical that we inundate the FERC with letters/comments so they hear our collective voices.

You can quickly and easily submit a comment to FERC through their eComment form.  Remember to use the Mountain Valley Pipeline project’s docket number PF15-3-000 when submitting your comment.  Please note that the eComment option is limited to individuals who submit text-only comments that are less than 6,000 characters in length.  To submit longer comments or comments with photos or other non-text material, please use FERC’s eRegistration electronic filing system.

Additionally, it would be helpful if our federal and local representatives also contacted FERC on behalf of their constituents.  Please also take the time to write to your representatives to ask them to write to FERC to request the extended scoping period and add scoping meetings.  Contact information for writing to your federal representatives can be found at or  To ensure that your letters are seen, we recommend sending letters to your federal representatives at both their Washington and local district offices (we have provided both sets of addresses).

A sample letter that you can use to write to FERC can be accessed at: and a sample letter you can use to write to your representatives (the example provided is a letter to Senator Warner) can be found at:  You are welcome to copy, paste, edit, and add to these letters so that you can best express your views and your voice to FERC and your representatives.  Please share this widely and ask your neighbors, friends, family members and co-workers to participate in this effort as it is vitally important.
